Why do they call the gut your second brain?

Ever since I have been diagnosed with cancer in 2015, I have been seeking knowledge on how to cure it naturally. My gut and the microbiome - the vast army of microbes living in our intestines and protecting us from disease - have become my friends. Not only has my own well-being, mental clarity and energy improved, but I have seen the same benefits in my dyslexic clients. Their memory and focus increased, while anxiety and overwhelm decreased. Mostly we should eat seasonal, fresh, organic and natural foods that mirror a peaceful state of mind, simple and creative. When eaten with gratitude and mindfulness, each bite will remind our cells of their important mission in keeping our bodies in alignment with a healthy mind. We may not always have free choice in life, but we can choose what we eat.
